April 2017 at Parks and Monuments of Sintra
April comes stuffed with almonds, Easter cakes and diverse delicacies. Parks and Monuments of Sintra marks the month of Easter with a programme of activities for the whole family.
April 2nd, Palace of Monserrate - Music Room: Bring your family and be dazzled by the wonderful musical series “Sundays on the Piano”, performed by pianist Raúl Pinto.
April 15th, Tapada of Monserrate and Tapada of Mafra: Take part in “From the park to the Tapada: nature in Sintra and Mafra” and be fascinated by the hypnotizing beauty of these places.
April 15th, at Farmyard of Monserrate: Prepare yourself for a special Easter edition that the activity “It's Certainly a Saloia (Salty) Farm” has for the whole family. Come and learn how to make great Easter cakes and join the 19th century saloios to hunt Easter eggs that are hidden all over the farm.
On April 22nd, take part in 3 very special activities that Park of Monserrate has planned for the general public:
- “Feel the Heritage - Discovering Park of Monserrate through Sensations”, a visit destined for blind or visually impaired people.
- “Gardens of Monserrate without Barriers”, a special visit for people with limited mobility.
- “Heritage in Gestures”, a special visit for the hearing impaired, with the activity therefore interpreted in Portuguese Sign Language.
Every Saturday, Tapada of D. Fernando II (next to Capuchpos Convent): In “There Are Donkeys Here!”, children get to know this docile animal and take a trip through the forest, accompanied by the adults. On April 15th, there will be a special Easter session, with an Easter egg hunt and other surprises.
April 6th, Park of Monserrate: Integrated into the surrounding nature, come and see the open air International Garden Photographer Of The Year (IGPOTY) exhibition, the premier international competition for garden, plant, flower and botanical photographers.
April 23rd, National Palace of Pena: Take part in a guided tour to the exhibition “Fernando Coburgo fecit: the artistic activity of the king-consort” and discover his engravings and paintings on ceramics.

April 28th, Henrique Calado Riding Ring: Gala of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art.
