February 2017 at Sintra's Parks and Monuments
Do you have plans for carnival yet? Sintra's Parks and Monuments have exciting offers for those who want to celebrate this season in style and with a touch of the old.
THIS MONTH'S HIGHLIGHTS
26 February, at Monserrate Farm: Special edition of the activity “It's certainly a Saloia (Salty) Farm”. Put on your mask and celebrate with your family, while discovering how life used to be on a 19th century farm in the rural Saloia region.
28 February, at Queluz National Palace (Palácio Nacional de Queluz): Celebrate the “Carnival at Queluz National Palace” in a festive and high creative setting in the style of the 18th century. The activity will feature a mask workshop and period music and dancing.
19 February, at Sintra National Palace (Palácio Nacional de Sintra): “The King's Treasure” challenges visitors to find out where the treasure is hidden, and unravel clues and enigmas with their families.
18 February, Tapada de Monserrate and Tapada de Mafra: “From the park to the Tapada: nature in Sintra and Mafra”, a trip for the whole family to discover the diversity of these areas' ecosystems.
On 25 February, Monserrate Palace has various specially planned activities for the general public:
- “Feel the Heritage - Discovering Monserrate Park through Sensations”, a visit destined for blind or visually impaired people.
- “Monserrate Gardens without Barriers”, a special visit for people with limited mobility.
- “Heritage in Gestures”, a special visit for the hearing impaired, with the activity therefore interpreted in Portuguese Sign Language.
Every Saturday, D. Fernando II's Tapada: “There Are Donkeys Here!”, an activity for the whole family to get to know this docile animal that ends with a walk through the Sintra Forest.
