Coala Festival Portugal 2026
The third edition of Coala Festival, a Brazilian music event that celebrates Portuguese-language music, culture and diversity, will take place at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome in Cascais on 30 and 31 May 2026. The festival is co-produced by Cascais Municipal Council.
With a mission to broaden horizons and promote Portuguese-language music, the Portuguese edition of the Coala Festival came to life in 2024, the year in which the event celebrated its 10th anniversary in Brazil. In 2026, the festival will take place on the last weekend of May, a choice that reinforces its consolidation in the European calendar, occupying a strategic period for both local and international audiences.
The artistic selection is signed by Gabriel Andrade, one of the festival's founding partners, and Angolan musician and writer Kalaf Epalanga. Together, they have built a programme that expands Coala's proposal, bringing together voices, sounds and aesthetics of music in the Portuguese language.
Over the course of the two editions held in Portugal, the festival welcomed around 40,000 people and brought to the stage major Brazilian personalities such as Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben, Ney Matogrosso, BK’, Liniker, Timbalada + Afrocidade and Xande de Pilares. Portuguese artists were also featured, with performances by Carminho, Rita Vian, António Zambujo, and Ana Lua Caiano. Representing the third cornerstone of the Portuguese language, Coala also welcomed African artists such as Djodje, Pongo, and Mayra Andrade.
